Torchwood This Week http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood has the
schedule information on spinoff series Torchwood.
The BBC is running a lot of Doctor Who programming this Christmas
season, including the premiere of The Runaway Bride (*2* airings on
BBC One), a radio documentary, a TV version of the Cardiff Doctor Who
concert on the red button service, the pilot episode for The Sarah
Jane Adventures, and the launch of new Doctor Who radio episodes on
BBC 7.
Christmas and New Years should see special programming in other countries as well:
Italy - Jimmy begins Series 2 with The Christmas Invasion - Christmas Eve 7:55PM. The remaining 13 episodes will premiere in Italy on subsequent weeks.
France - France 4 begins Series 2 with The Christmas Invasion - Christmas Day 10:15PM. The remaining episodes will air in January and February on Thursday nights, plus repeats.
US - SciFi has an 8 hour marathon of Series 2 on Friday the 22nd, the US premieres of Army of Ghosts and Doomsday that night at 8PM Eastern to finish Series 2, and The Christmas Invasion (repeat) on Christmas Day at 3PM Eastern.
US - BBC America will have a special repeat of The Unquiet Dead (set on Christmas Eve 1869) on Christmas Eve at 9PM Eastern.
Canada - Ztele has reported that they will repeat The Christmas Invasion on Friday December 22 at 11PM to tie into Christmas - their actual schedule information for next week is sketchy.
Australia - UKTV will air all of Series 1 as a marathon on New Years Eve, starting at Noon.
Good news for British military forces overseas. The BBC One episode
of Doctor Who Confidential (2PM CET) and the premiere of The Runaway
Bride (8PM) will air on BFBS 1 and BFBS Navy simultaneous with their
BBC One broadcasts. No waiting for the new Doctor Who.
On the other hand, the BFBS channels will not be airing The Sarah
Jane Smith Adventures or the last 3 Torchwood episodes during the
Christmas season. No idea when they will be airing on the military
channels yet.
KTEH 54 San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org is the first public TV station to reveal that they have purchased the 13 Series 1 episodes of Doctor Who (Rose through The Parting of the Ways) for broadcast beginning in April 2007. The episodes are expected to be shown in a one hour block - the original unedited* episode plus a cut down version of the relevant Doctor Who Confidential episode. The package is being sold to individual public TV stations rather than being run on the national PBS network schedule. Read KTEH's press release at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho/message/465 .
*SciFi was the first US broadcaster of these episodes and edited many of them to fit their commercial load. BBC America has aired the first 5 episodes of this series with no edits to the stories so far, though they have removed the "next time" trailers and replaced the closing credits with text squished on the side of the screen.
1 down - here's hoping the other public TV stations that have the
Doctor Who package chime in soon so the interest can build. Doctor
Who back on over the air TV - a nice feeling.
BBC America's upcoming schedule grid indicates that they will interrupt their current run of Doctor Who stories for at least the first 2 weeks of January. On January 2 at 9PM and 1AM Eastern they will repeat Aliens of London and World War Three as a 2 hour movie. On January 9 and through the week they will repeat Rose a few more times. On Sunday January 14 from 3 to 9PM EST they will have a marathon showing all the episodes that have aired on BBC America to that point (Rose, The End Of The World, The Unquiet Dead, Aliens of London, World War Three, Dalek).
For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office

Doctor Who - The Christopher Eccleston episodes - coming Tuesday April 10, 2007! As of this writing, KCAH 25 simulcasts the KTEH 54 schedule. KQED 9 San Francisco, CA http://www.kqed.org now owns both of those stations, so it is possible that KCAH could switch to a simulcast of KQED or get its own schedule separate to the other two in the future.
